People’s Daily: 1,500 Imported Mercedes-Benz Vehicles Set a New Record for Single-batch Imports of Complete Vehicles at Complete Vehicle Import Port of Chongqing, and were Reported on the Online Platform “Renminhao” of People's Daily
According to news from the Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park, recently 1,500 Mercedes-Benz imported vehicles departed from Bremen, Germany, and arrived in Chongqing along the modern Silk Road, setting a new record for the largest single batch of imported vehicles in the park.
It is reported that, with the formation of economies of scale in China Railway Express, cross-border railway transportation is increasingly accepted by logistics enterprises. Under this background, the International Logistics Hub Park cooperated with the stationed enterprise China Capital Logistics. On November 15 last year, 112 imported Mercedes-Benz vehicles were successfully transported to the park in the form of cross-border transportation in special closed railway carriages (hereinafter referred to as “Cage truck”) for the first time.
According to China Capital Logistics, in traditional container transportation, each carriage can only carry 2-4 commercial vehicles. Whereas, each carriage of the cage truck can carry about 10 commercial vehicles, greatly improving the transportation capacity. However, because the Russian section of the railway is a narrow gauge, which is different from the standard gauge. The commercial vehicles needed to be reloaded when the track was changed. In this regard, China Capital Logistics developed a new customs transfer loading and unloading method. The commercial vehicles were directly loaded from German carriages to Russian ones, eliminating the landing link and finally achieving the expected goal.
In order to expedite the normalization, China Capital Logistics also initiated standardization construction. The Quality Management Manual for Europe-China Closed Carriage Railway Commercial Vehicle compiled by it clearly specifies the transportation procedures, loading and unloading vehicles, track transfer operation, dressing requirements and keys management, and has been translated into German and Russian versions, aiming to promote such “Chinese standard” in countries and regions along the railway. In September of this year, Daimler once again commissioned China Capital Logistics to transport 1500 sets of imported commercial vehicles by rail. To this end, China Capital Logistics and the International Logistics Hub Park worked hard to form a comprehensive logistics scheme that the cross-border cage truck runs in parallel with the China Railway Express (Chongqing). Since September 18, the cross-border cage truck with the full load of Mercedes-Benz imported vehicles and the China Railway Express (Chongqing) travelled to and fro between China and Germany for a total of 10 times, finally delivering the whole batch of imported vehicles to the park safely and efficiently. On November 8, these Mercedes-Benz imported vehicles were all delivered to Guangzhou after customs clearance in Chongqing.
The reporter learned that the international logistics hub park is an important area for vehicle import in Chongqing. The park is actively optimizing the construction of vehicle port in Chongqing and expanding the entire vehicle import industry chain. At present, more than ten mainstream brands such as Porsche, Volkswagen, Citroen, BMW, Land Rover, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Lincoln, Toyota, Ford, Volvo and Bentley have joined the port "luxury package". In October this year, the complete vehicle import volume at this port exceeded the monthly limit of 1,900 units. It is estimated that the total vehicle import volume will exceed 12,000 units this year.
